Martin Xuereb
Chairman
Martin Xuereb has served Director of Business Development at Hili Ventures, since 2016. As the Chairman of RMHC Malta, he also leads efforts to establish Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in countries where it is not yet present. Mr Xuereb brings a wealth of experience, having previously served at the Permanent Representation of Malta to the EU and as the Commander of the Armed Forces of Malta. He is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, and holds a BSc in Social Science with Politics, along with a Master’s in International Studies from King’s College, London. Prior to joining Hili Ventures, Mr Xuereb was the Director of MOAS, a foundation engaged in assisting individuals in distress at sea in the Aegean, Central Mediterranean, and Southeast Asia.
Pier Luca Demajo
Board Member
Pier Luca Demajo has served as Chairman of Hili Properties plc, the real estate arm of Hili Ventures, since 2020. He brings extensive commercial experience to his role, having created and managed several companies across diverse sectors in Malta, including technology, manufacturing, tourism, distribution, contracting, and financial services. Mr Demajo served as Chief Executive Officer of the M. Demajo Group from 2008 to 2019 and is now a Group Director. In 2019, he was appointed as a board member of iSpot Holdings, a subsidiary of 1923 Investments plc, Hili Ventures’ investments arm. He also holds the honorary title of Consul of Canada.
Petre Tintoi
Board Member
Petre Tintoi has served as General Manager of Premier Restaurants Malta, Hili Ventures’ Maltese McDonald’s business, since 2023. He started his journey with McDonald’s in 1997, when he joined the crew at a McDonald’s restaurant in Romania. He was appointed Business Consultant in 2009 and Operations Manager in 2017. Mr Tintoi relocated to Malta in 2018 to join Premier Restaurants Malta as Operations Manager, and was promoted to Director of Operations in 2021. Mr Tintoi holds a degree in Economics from the University of Brasov.
Dr Mariella Mangion
Board Member
Dr Mariella Mangion graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Malta. She furthered her studies in child health and obtained her paediatric qualifications from the UK in 1996. In 2011, she read for a Master’s in Public Health at the University of Malta. Her dissertation focused on the adolescent mental health outcomes associated with child maltreatment. Dr Mangion is Consultant Community Paediatrician with special interest in the safeguarding of children at Mater Dei Hospital. She is the lead professional for child protection issues within the health sector and is responsible for the formulation of child protection guidelines and practice. She works in close collaboration with other agencies involved in the field of safeguarding of children. Dr Mangion also delivers training to undergraduate and postgraduate students within the medical sector and has published articles in local and international medical journals.
Kristina Borg Cardona
Board Member
Kristina Borg Cardona has served as Director of Communications at Hili Ventures since 2023. With over a decade of experience, she has successfully led communications and marketing teams in various corporate environments across key industries. Prior to joining Hili Ventures, Ms Borg Cardona was with Malta International Airport plc, where she played a pivotal role in developing the brand, PR, and marketing functions. She also managed the retail, F&B, and advertising products within the terminal, in addition to contributing to the design development of commercial and infrastructural projects. Ms. Borg Cardona has a strong background in supporting and managing sustainability and philanthropic activities at the corporate level.
